How to Get to Leshan Big Buddha from Chengdu
The Leshan Great Buddha is carved on Lingyun Hill, east of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, where three rivers converge: the Min River, the Qingyi River and the Dadu River.
This impressive sculpture is located about 162 kilometers (approximately 100 miles) from Chengdu, accessible by highway. By Bus
To get to the Big Buddha in Leshan, you must first head to Leshan City. The most common way to do this is to take a bus. Buses leave every 20 minutes from Chengdu's Xinnanmen Bus Station, located south of the river at Lin Jiangzhong Road, near Xinnan Road. The bus ride takes approximately 2 hours and drops you off at Leshan Xiaoba Station. From there, you can take the local bus No.13 to reach the Big Buddha.
There are also buses leaving from Ximen and Chadianzi bus stations, but these routes have fewer direct departures to Leshan. Therefore, it is recommended to take buses from Xinnanmen Station in Chengdu.
In downtown Leshan, public buses No. 3, 7, 8 and 13 will take you to the Big Buddha Scenic Area.
By Train
The nearest train stations are Emei and Jiajiang, and the journey to these stations takes approximately 40 minutes. If you choose to travel by train, it is advisable to get off at Emei Station, which is 10 km (approximately 6 miles) from the entrance of Mount Emei and 31 km (approximately 19 miles) from Leshan City.
From Emei Station, take a bus from the nearby Emei Bus Station to Leshan Bus Station. Then, change to public bus No.13 or No.1 to reach the Big Buddha Scenic Area.
