How to Get to Chengdu Giant Panda Research Base
Giant Panda Research Base, officially known as Chengdu Reach Base of Giant Panda Breeding, is a renowned conservation and research center of giant pandas. Established in 1987, the base serves as a sanctuary for the endangered giant panda, one of the world's most iconic and beloved animals.
Spread across 210 hectares, the center is home to over 150 giant pandas, including cubs, juveniles, and adults. Visitors can witness the pandas in their natural habitat, observing their playful behaviors and learning about the ongoing efforts to protect this species.
The research base located approximately 13 km from the center of Chengdu.

How to get to the Giant Panda Base from Chengdu
1.By Tourist Bus
·From Kuai Zhai Alley to Pandas Base:
Tour buses operate between Pandas Base and Kuai Zhai Alley daily. Buses depart from Kuai Zhai between 08:30 and 14:30, with a frequency of one hour. The return from the Pandas base is between 09:30 and 17:30, also with a frequency of one hour. In addition, Chengdu has implemented 5 Panda Express lines to facilitate tourists' access to the Panda base.
2.By Public Bus
From central Chengdu:
You can take a bus from the center to the zoo bus stop, and then transfer to bus 87 or 198A to the Panda Base stop. This trip takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can take bus 60 from Xinnanmen Tourist Bus Station and get off at the intersection of Longqing Street and Shulong Street. From there, walk a few minutes along Panda Avenue until you reach the Pandas base.
From Chengdu North Railway Station:
Take bus 9 to the Zoo stop and then change to bus 87 or 198A to the Panda Base stop. This route, which covers about 11 kilometers, will last approximately one hour. Another option is to take buses 1, 32, 71, 53, 63, 49, 64, 69, 70, 83 or 156 to Zhaojuesi stop and then change to bus 198 to Pandas base.
3.By Taxi
·From Shuangliu International Airport:
Taking a taxi from the airport to the Giant Panda Research Base will cost around 100 RMB, regardless of traffic.
·From central Chengdu:
A taxi from the center to the base costs approximately 50 RMB, regardless of traffic.
·From Chengdu North Railway Station:
A taxi ride from the northern train station to the base costs around 30 RMB, regardless of traffic.
4.By Private Vehicle
