Li River
Guilin's unique landscape, represented by the beauty of the mountain region and the Karst water of the Li River, is famous all over the world. The Li River is one of the landmarks of Guilin and one of the largest and most beautiful Karst landscape tourism areas in the world. It is located in the east of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China and originates from Mao'er Mountain in the far north of Guilin, with a total length of 437 kilometers. The stretch of water from Guilin to Yangshuo, covering about 83 kilometers, is known as the Li River and has many well-known landmarks.
Main Attractions
The Rock of the Waiting Wife stands on the west bank of the Li River, located before Doumi Beach, about 37 kilometers from Guilin. The immortal's rock on the top of the mountain looks like a person dressed in ancient costumes facing north; A rock on the mountainside resembles a woman holding her child while she looks away towards her husband, which is why it is called the Mountain of the Waiting Wife.
Snail Shell Mountain is located on the west bank of the Li River, and the entire shape of the mountain looks like a large green snail that spirals from the bottom up to the top. At the base of the mountain there is a snail cave. Tengjiao Temple was established during the Ming Dynasty, composed of the Hall of Three Treasures and the Kuixing Star Pavilion, which was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. In front of the cave is a peculiarly shaped incense stone, and inside the cave are three snails of different shapes, white as snow, green as jade, and black as varnish. On the rock are relief inscriptions recording the origin of the cave and the surrounding views.
Xingping Town is located northeast of the city center of Yangshuo County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, along both banks of the Li River in the upper reaches of the river. The Li River flows through Xingping Village, forming a beautiful "S"-shaped river bend, which is a prominent place to enjoy the scenery of the Li River. Marshal Ye Jianying wrote a poem praising the scenery here: "The spring breeze makes the boats on the Li River light, with strange peaks lined up on the sides to welcome and send away visitors. The horse jumps down the Hua Mountain and people look in the mirror, really the best views are in Xingping." Here, the mountains and water complement each other, the sights are numerous and the area has unique characteristics of strangeness, danger, beauty, wonder and fun.
The Yellow Cloth Reflection is south of Hua Mountain, where there is a yellow rock about ten meters high, which looks like a piece of yellow cloth spread on the bottom of the river. Therefore, this area is called Tela Amarilla, and this bank is also known as the Tela Amarilla bank. In 2000, the fifth series of 20 yuan banknotes issued by the People's Bank of China featured the Li River scene, which was the Yellow Cloth Reflection.
Nine Horse Mountain is located 4 kilometers northwest of Xingping Town, with a height of more than 400 meters and a width of 200 meters. It stands next to the river with a steep, multicolored stone wall. From afar, this mountain looks like a huge screen, with five peaks connected one after another, in green, blue, yellow, white and black, which gives it the name Nine Horse Mountain. It is also known as Paint Mountain.
