The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a landmark building of Guangzhou, it is also a key unit of national cultural relics protection and a AAAA class tourist attraction. It was built by the people of Guangzhou and overseas Chinese to commemorate the great revolutionary precursor Sun Yat-sen, designed by the famous Chinese architect Lu Yanzhi and completed in 1931.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is located on Dongfeng Zhong Street of Yuexiu, Guangzhou, with a total area of 61,000 square meters and a main building of 12,000 square meters (including surrounding platforms). The building has a height of 48.63 meters and a depth from north to south of 72.65 meters, making it the largest Sun Yat-sen memorial hall in the world. It is located on the southern slope of Yuexiu Mountain, on the former site of the presidential residence where Sun Yat-sen took office as Provisional Grand President of the Republic of China, being an important node in the central axis of the modern city of Guangzhou.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a landmark in modern Guangzhou architecture and an example of the organic combination of traditional Chinese architecture with Western architectural structures. The building's appearance imitates the style of Song Dynasty palaces, with an octagonal pyramidal roof and pavilions extending in four directions. The main colors of blue tiles and red columns stand out brightly. The interior uses steel and reinforced concrete structure techniques, creating a spacious, majestic and splendid space.

In the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall there are also characteristic attractions such as the "King of Bombax", hugging trees, trees on trees and "mountain" trees. The "King of the Bombax" is a Bombax tree with more than 350 years of history, whose red flowers in spring are impressive. The "hugging trees" are a wonderful view of a banyan tree and a camphor tree hugging each other closely. "Tree on tree" is a phenomenon in which a banyan tree grows on top of another banyan tree. The "mountain-shaped tree" is a rarity where two fig trees merge together forming a Chinese character "山" (mountain).

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is not only a beautiful building, but also a museum with deep historical and cultural wealth. It has witnessed many important historical events in Guangzhou: in 1936, Guangzhou citizens held a grand anti-opium march here; In September 1945, the invading Japanese army in Guangzhou signed its surrender here; and after the liberation, various commemorative activities for Sun Yat-sen, important provincial and municipal meetings, and artistic performances have been held annually.
